General Questions

We open our physical shop weekdays (except on Tuesdays when we work from home!) from 11am (sometimes earlier) until 5pm.

Weekends we are there slightly later of a morning with similar closing times.

Please note, we occasionally need to run an errand or do a job, and then on very rare occasion we take a little time out (Yes really!) if so then we inform in advance on our Facebook and social media and leave a note on here too.

Generally delivery occurs between 24 and 48hrs after we send it depending on the shipping option chosen. We aim to dispatch orders within two working days of receipt of a paid order. Orders including hand spoooledfilms may take longer.

PS please let us know if the delivery can be left with a neighbour or in a safe place, we can relay that to the courier.

Call us or better still message us via social media, we always do our best to achieve the seemingly impossible, but that very much depends on how close to deadlines customers leave it!

Get in touch, 99.9% of the time there is a good reason but you should also allow your postie or the courier sufficent space before panicking!

This comes up normally because you are trying to order an item that we cannot legally send to you.

There are rules that apply to certain chemicals that are subject to IATA regulations.

Sorry about not our fault, but regardless there;s no harm if you contact us just to see if we can do something for you or provide an alternative product.

PS we are working on this issue for solutions all the time so again, feel free to contact on social medi a or by email

Developing and Processing FAQ

Most questions are already answered on the product listings, please read them thoroughly. Briefly however:

Turnaround times: the clock starts ticking when your film arrives with us and not when you place the order.  Processing times can vary depending on workloads and staffing. C41 is the fastest obviously.

Black and white: We pride ourselves by giving each film as much hands on attention, as we can.  We go the extra maile to align each film to a developer we know will yield the best results. Therefore, please allow us the space to that so we can give you the best results you are likely to get!

ECN2 and the cross processes: The above paragraph also applies, these films are not used according to their intended purpose, they require hands on attention to remove remjet.  Please allow at least 14 days for the ECN2 process.

E6 for colour slide: The chemistry for this process is as expensive as it is fragile, therefore for best results and to manintain best pricing this process is run when we have enough films to do so…. If you need a faster turnaround then send us enough film to make up a batch.

Pushing and pulling films: Don;t listen to online “experts” telling you to push by more than the two stops. or we may just send them back to you!

Especially the case with colour films.  C41 will need to be hand processed incurring extra time and cost. ECN2 films, please don’t!  E6 please contact us first.

Pushing and pulling Black and White:  Sticking to two stops we can absorb.

If you want to push a film check first the dev times for BelliniFoto or Jobo chemistry on the Massive Dev Chart before you go out shooting. We are not magicians, we cannot just make a time for films shot willy nilly.

Just to reaffirm: Please please please don’t believe some of the rubbish you read online advising to push a film by anything more than 3 stops, doing so may result in refusal of service as you wont want to pay the extra costs, further, we don’t want to give you poor quality results.

(If you really want to do so then speak to us about processing your own films!)

If Royal Mail is your carrier of choice, you must apply sufficient postage to ensure your films reach us. As detailed in most of the processing listings, films are too big to be sent as anything less than Small Parcel.

We recommend you always use tracked service and note a return address on your package just in case.

A packet arrives with a film inside….. what should we do?

Please include your details or an order number! Just give us a clue.

Most importantly, please ensure you use sufficient postage.  If you have put insufficient postage on we may not receive hence make sure you put a return address on the outside. (yes this is experience speaking!)

Note: we will not pay the grey slip card if something is posted with too little postage paid.  Nik & Trick Tip:  Film is too large to just pop in an envelope to send, you need to post as Small Parcel (Royal Mail)

Shoot film and come to Nik & Trick!

There you have it, all made simple!
