Chamonix Mid-Sized Large Format Cameras come in a variety of formats:
For the 5×7 format, perhaps in many ways the optimum format, Chamonix produces 3 models: 57N, 57Fs-2, and 57W-d. The 57N is a horizontal-only model for photography in landscape orientation.
The 57Fs-2 and 57W-d models have convertible backs for photography in either landscape or portrait orientation and those are what we are lising here.
Chamonix cameras in the 57 series are made with teak. The metal parts–front/rear standards and small parts–are painted black to compliment the color of the carbon fiber components of the camera.
The Chamonix 57Fs-2 view camera comes with a Graflox adapter that will also accept a 617 roll film back. The 57Fs-2 camera uses Sinar-type lens boards. This should be the camera of choice for landscape and architecture photographers and features asymmetrical tilts of the rear standard.Weight: 2,780 grams

The Chamonix Whole Plate (WP) uses the classic format–6.5×8.5 inches that has such a long history and enjoys special affection among photographers using platinum and other alternative processes.Chamonix WP cameras are primarily designed to meet the need of such photographers desiring a light-weight modern camera. The cameras are made with teak and lightweight, high-density carbon fiber. The latter is mainly used for the camera base plates to ensure the stability and rigidity of the cameras.
Chamonix WP cameras are handmade following very strict procedures. All wood parts are hand varnished and polished. Each coat is applied to the wood and allowed to dry naturally before another coat is applied. This procedure is repeated 12 times and takes 90 days from start to finish. The result is worth the time; when finished, a Chamonix view camera glows.
The metal parts of the Chamonix WP camera are anodized aluminum with a black finish. Note that the front standard takes Sinar-type lens board.
