Bellini Hydrofen B&W Film Developer at the Nik & Trick Online Store.
So good, this one is in our top three most loved developers, in fact we process more b&w films in this now than any other developer.
It is that good, in fact, probably the best all-round b&w developer you can choose.
A very similar formulation as that of the legendary Studional or Rodinal Speziale, this is a fine-grain black and white film developer with an excellent contrast balance once loved by many great photographers.
Hydrofen has the capability of a one stop push or pull, T-max films for example simply adore it, as do HP5, FP4, Shanghai GP3, Kodak Double-X and so on and on!
It will however, develop just about all b&w films, all the most popular ones have times given in the datasheet and our guide sheet which can be downloaded below.
It’s perfect for both beginners and experts alike
Nik & Trick tip: Kodak Tmax400 goes together with this like strawberries and cream but that’s one of our most favourite films anyway!
This is just the developer for Bergger Panchro 400 1+39 for 6,00 @ 20c!
See HERE for an unofficial chart of development times compiled by ourselves and customers.

I’ve been using Hydrofen on Fp4, hp5 and Rollei rpx25 and love the results. The shelf life is great and the results are really good.

Really nice developer. It is a shame there are not many times and dilutions in the dev chart but a hidden gem no doubt about it. Thanks to Nick and Trick for the times and dilutions they have put on this website. The self life is amazing, I have recently used some from an open bottle from four years ago and it worked perfectly . Love it on APX100.

Massive Dev Chart isn’t bad for times, which will be the same for Studional….as more discover this wonderful developer we’re certain that more will come but all the main stuff is covered nicely now and we have more so give us a shout if stuck!

Quite simply one of the best developers on the market. Stunning results from a wonderfully simple developer. If I had to settle on one developer for everything then this would be it.

Hydrofen with Fomapan 100 (1:31 as per massive dev chart) is just beautiful. Fine grain, creamy middles and super forgiving of overexposure.
I’m new to this and, to be honest, haven’t used anything else to compare it to but was blown away by the results!

I went with Hydrofen when I rebuilt my chemicals a year ago, guided by the description of it in here.
I’m now converted and I really like Hydrofen versatility, results and shelf life. I think is going to be my main go to after I’m done with all my Rodinal.
