BelliniFoto Selenium Toner is yet another superior product from the lovely people at BelliniFoto in Pergugia
Selenium Toner has long been the standard for archival finishing of resin coating, fine art and fibre papers. In fact to many, including ourselves, this is an essential part of the process for making any prints that are intended for sale.
The archival properties of prints (and films) are much improved as selenium kills off any silver that can react to light and cause fading to sepia over a period of time
Dilution:
- 1+19 Dilution for Toning
- 1+39 as Black Intensifier
- for print stabilisation only: 1+100 to 1+400
The concentrated solution will last very well in a sealed bottle

Always take extreme care when using selenium toner. Wear gloves and goggles, and never heat the solution as the fumes it gives off are poisonous.
Selenium is hazardous to wildlife – as it is also to human health. In many regions, it is illegal to dispose of the spent solution by pouring it down the sink. Before using selenium, contact your local authority for advice on safe disposal of selenium toner residues.
