   A film I never got along with until I tried it with Pyrocat HD. For this I’ll award 4 stars instead of 3. Don’t get me wrong, good budget film but most of the time to get anything near a decent image I had to shoot at 200. However, this isn’t the case when used with Pyro Cat HD

   This is a very under rated “classic” type film that has good tonality and classic type grain. The bump in the red response can also produce a slightly different look to other pan films. But to get the best out of it you really need to understand how it works with your developer of choice either by performing your own tests or getting an idea from Foma’s own very well written data sheets. In ID-11 for example this film is only really iso 250, dilution also seems to have quite an affect on how the images will come out and it doesn’t like underexposure. If you’re a fan of the more gritty 1970’s type of photo reportage look, give it a go and you may be pleasantly surprised. I can’t speak how well it pushes or pulls with other developers but with ID11 it’s capable of producing fine results at ISO 250 /200 with varying looks depending on how you process it and agitation.

     A very good review, points out the issues that can be found with budget films v. developers and good advice included re: looking up the maker’s data sheets.

     FYI we’re getting more than remarkable feedback about our FX-55 developer when used with this film, the word “miraculous” used by three different customers now!
