Geoff Crawley FX-55 B&W Film Developer is a classic and now much admired formulation presented to the world via Amateur Photography magazine in September 2008 by the late Geoffrey Crawley.
Here here we present this product as our tribute to that dedicated chap.
FX-55 is a fine grain, fully toned developer that has good over and underexposure characteristics with a low background fog level.
The full tonality and it’s fine, even grain is very beneficial for digital scanning as well as darkroom printing.
This version has been formulated to be easier to use in that the required volume can be made up with little or no wastage.. It will keep a lot longer than the original times that Mr Crawley recorded.
In short this is Safer, cleaner than the first formulation, it’s Eco Friendly even, but easier to us present in terms of safe packaging which is now child safe!

HP5 in this is wonderful! And What it does with Foma 400 is special, that cheap film becomes class.
Impressed with it so far. Very easy to use and results are cracking.
Pete Biggs –
Ticks a lot of boxes for me with higher speed films and produces some amazing tones. Being eco friendly it’s got to be one of the safest to use giving me peace of mind that I’m not additionally contributing to the worlds issues!

What’s not to like?
Nice easy measuring for 120 in Paterson tank.
I’ve processed Adox CHS100 II Twice now. 11.5 first time and 13 mins the second time. The 13min time has brought out even better contrast and detail. I’m loving it!
