Vintage Soviet B&W Chemistry ~ New Old Stock

Clearout continues…with a box full of NEW old stock 1970s Soviet Union chemistry that we are offering here for experimentation or display…please read on, it gets better

Dating from the 1970s to the early 1980s these packs are a bit of a barn find. This is a one off, there will be no other like this,

We anticipate that these will appeal to a lot of people, probably those who love Soviet era stuff.

Obviously, due to age we cannot warranty how well they’ll behave so are listed here just for experimenting or just be used to enhance a display.

The previous owner tells us: “Basically original Agfa formulae tweaked or used without change when the tech and know-how was obtained by the Soviet Union at the end of WWII. It’s still great, even after all this time, it works well”

Most, has been previously tested in recent times, some has been tested just now by one of our regulars who’s been pretty amazed at the results!

I’ve scanned all the packaging and subjected the pictures to Google Translate to make life easier for you. I even did the instructions where necessary so please, do take time to regard these before buying.

Legalities: Righty, before any trolls kick off about safety data etc, we are as usual one step ahead of you.

Obviously there cannot be any up to date MSDS etc as such things didn’t exist until recently so, this is older chemistry, please use protective gloves, glasses if you please and use in a well ventilated area. Don’t drink it!!

Disposal: As per any modern MSDS, please seek advice from your local authority.

Vintage Soviet Black & White Chemistry

We sent a couple of packs to one of our faithful regulars who loves playing with this sort of stuff and he’s found that the sheet film developer and the fix are really good, let me quote his words: “Well you couldn’t have had a more decisive test ”

The crunchy fix works fine, the developer has a sort of Rodinal feel to it but is metol / hydroquinone based like D76 and many other developers of the day.

That’s the one in the stained pack, so I think it fair to presume the roll film dev will be good too, the fix, well it’s a good traditional basic recipe so that was always going to work even though it’s made of crystals and feels crunchy!

Okay, here’s the rules.

Although successfully tested, this is pretty far from new so it is what it is.  Each product will be selected from it’s bag at random…ie the fix, same product, different packaging.

Same applies to the developers we believe.

The enhancer and reducer are here in the smallest numbers but the same rule applies to all of what we have:

Pretty please with a cherry on top, study the pictures closely before deciding to purchase.
