Ultra HD Fluid Scanning produces outstanding ultra high resolution scans made using our magnificent Epson V750….but with a twist 😉

Using the Fluid Mounting frame and wet mounting films makes a difference many are finding unbelievably superb!

This procedure although a bit time consuming means that films are completely flat to the scanning surface with the ensuing spot on geometry and focus when scanned, fluid mounting also eliminates Newton rings as well as the chromatic and halo aberrations that can occur when re-photographing negatives.

Wet mounting like this can fill any scratches and hide dust to a degree, dust however is likely to be present so you may need to do a little spotting in any case when you finish off with any adjusting of the file to your liking.  Aftwards, scans look even more amazing, colour rendition may also be a matter of personal descretion…

Wet mounting fluid by the way, evaporates in a matter of seconds leaving films completely unaffected.

Scans will be made to 16bit tiff files according to the resolutions that will be shown in the products offered or/and in a table below in due course.

Here’s a few sample scans…

As you can see even from these much reduced files for the website, detail and definition is outstanding hence there has been a lot of interest in this forthcoming service.

Which by the way will be limited to suitable formats including the scanning of stips where the matrix is required to be shown….looks cool too, I particuarly love the bubbles in the 35mm sprocket holes!

The only way to improve on this service is by coming to our Drum Scanning Service!! 😉
