Optik Oldschool Opticolour 200 35mm Film ~ 36 Exposure Roll

Optik Oldschool Opticolour 200 35mm film is an innovative new product that features natural colours, good contrast, great greens and reds and lovely skin tones and fine grain. Having it’s own character sets it apart from the other films. Great news.

Manufactured featuring a brand new emulsion it has been created and coated by InovisCoat in Germany onto a proper orange base making it as easy to handle when scanning in the Lab or at home.

We are reliably informed that colour rendering has been formulated to be natural, well balanced whilst offering subtle emphasis on greens and reds and particularly pleasing “awesome” skin tones. Contrast remains moderate, allowing for excellent highlight and shadow detail, making this film highly adaptable across a wide range of subjects.

We shall try some ourselves of course and will even drum scan some results if we like them enough! 😀

Here’s a few words from Nico at Oldshool:

“Months ago we teamed up with InovisCoat to run Lab tests with this film. It all started with a full factory tour followed by several meetings at InovisCoat’s facilities. Shortly after we started to get hands on rolls with test-coatings which we were to provide feedback on. We shot these with different cameras under several lighting conditions, scanned them with Fuji Frontier, Noritsu and other films scanners.

Initially the film had a greenish base, so we were skeptical for the outcome but very pleasantly surprised when we ran the developed rolls through the scanners. We provided feedback on colours and scanning performance and kept questioning why the film could not have an orange base. Additional hours of work and weeks of preparation later and voilà, the orange base was born yielding even better results when scanned in the Lab!

We’ve never been this close to film production and feel delighted to be a part of it – we pride ourselves of having been influential to the orange base becoming a reality.”

Overall this film represents terrific value and we hope that it does well, establishes it’s own place within the market this is a terrific addition to the market and one that we here at Nik & Trick will get behind as we always do with new products.

Opticolor 200 is available in both 120 and 35mm rolls as well as sheet films in 5×4, 7×5 and 10×8.
